Gingerbread Recipe

Now here's an all-time classic Christmas recipe for your hamper; Gingerbread. It quite literally smells of Christmas when you make these and Cook Expert makes it a breeze.

Step by step recipe below…

Ingredients:

Gingerbread dough:

100g salted butter 

3 tbsp golden syrup 

80g muscovado sugar

½ tsp bicarbonate of soda

1 tbsp ground ginger

1 tsp ground cinnamon

200g plain flour

Icing:

100g icing sugar

1 tbsp water

Method:

1. Put the butter, golden syrup and sugar into the metal bowl and run EXPERT 1 minute/speed 3/0°C.

2. Add the rest of the ingredients and run CAKE/PASTRY, stopping the programme to scrape down the sides halfway through.

3. Once the ingredients are combined, tip the crumbly mixture out onto a clean, floured surface and bring together to form a ball.

4. Cover and leave to rest in the fridge for at least 30 minutes. Line a baking tray with baking paper and pre-heat the oven to 190°C/170°C fan.

5. Take the dough out of the fridge, roll out on a floured surface and cut into whichever shapes you like. Bake for 10/12 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool.

6. Make the icing by mixing the icing sugar and water together. Once the gingerbread has cooled, put the icing into a piping bag and decorate them however you wish.
