Magimix. For the passionate home cook.

- 1961 -

The French Revolution

Back in 1961, in a small village in Burgundy, France, Pierre Verdun joined forces with his friend Robert Comte to develop a culinary brainwave.
Together they came up with the first food preparation machine featuring a blade on the bottom of a pot that could chop, grind, shred and knead.

- 1963 –

The launch of Robot Coupe

A patent quickly followed, and the ‘Robot Coupe’ processor was launched in 1963, aimed at professional chefs.  These machines are still used today in commercial kitchens across the globe.

- 1971 -

A woman’s work

This revolutionary and innovative machine saved hours of prep work and quickly became an international success. Robert Comte’s wife felt a tad envious.  She asked if he could produce a smaller, domestic version for her kitchen. Robert Comte duly obliged and on 1st March, 1971, the first compact domestic food processor was born and christened ‘Magimix’.

All Magimix food processors are still handmade in a French factory in the former mining centre of Montceau-les-Mines, 70 miles southwest of Dijon. The accessories (blades, discs, etc) are all made in Sabatier stainless-steel and are made in Thiers, the French heart of knife-making.

Magimix has always boasted an industrial-grade, direct-drive induction motor, the type that automatically adjusts its power to the task in hand and is guaranteed for a somewhat staggering 30 years.

With design rooted in fully commercial products, Magimix food processors enable the home cook to accomplish professional results quickly, easily and quietly. Magimix food processors combine tradition and technology perfectly.

- 1974 -

The UK invasion

Magimix was the first food processor to appear on the British market brought over by John Burgess and has continued to be a market leader ever since.

- 1980 -

Takeover

In 1980, the French Groupe Hameur took over the two brands – Magimix & Robot Coupe, and remains the sole owner of the company, with more than 150 employees and an international brand presence.

- 1984 -

Loved by celebrities & chefs

Magimix are lucky enough to count many top chefs and TV cooks amongst our biggest fans. From Jamie Oliver and his famous catchphrase ‘Chuck it in the Magi!’ to Nigella using the Vision Toaster on her show, Pru Leith, Rosemary Shrager, Eric Lanlard, Yotam Ottolenghi and almost every single contestant of Masterchef and The Great British Bake Off.  The list goes on..

When you consider that the Magimix food processor is still made by hand, and intended to last you 30 years, it seems old fashioned. We’ve all been so conditioned to expect planned obsolescence over the past few years - to replace and upgrade - it is almost inconceivable to buy a kitchen appliance you intend to use for decades.  Magimix’s phrase ‘Built better to last longer’ really has stood the test of time (along with their Food Processors!).

Today, the Magimix range includes a wide range of appliances, from blenders, ice-cream makerstoasters, juicersNespresso machines and their award-winning multi-cooker, The Cook Expert.

Magimix has been an eco-friendly company since the very beginning, respecting its original mission statement of designing and making simple, efficient and long lasting products.
